Junior Competition

Fitzroy Tennis Club Juniors compete in two tennis associations: the North Eastern Junior Tennis Association (NEJTA) and Eastern Region Tennis (ERT).

Players must be financial members of Fitzroy Tennis Club or receiving coaching from Racquet Lab.

Most children play in the NEJTA competition, which has 4-player teams (doubles and singles). Matches are on Saturday mornings during the school term, starting at 8am and usually finishing around 11am. The NEJTA seasons are Autumn (Terms 1 & 2) and Spring (Terms 3 & 4). Expressions of interest are collected in November and May each year.

For more competitive players, we have a small number of 2-player ERT teams. ERT requires greater commitment from players and parents due to longer travel distances and more frequent parental support. We recommend a UTR (Universal Tennis Rating) of over 4.0 to participate in ERT. ERT matches start at 8:30am on Saturdays and usually finish around 11:30am. The ERT seasons are Summer (Term 4 & Term 1) and Winter (Terms 2 & 3). Expressions of interest are sought in March and September each year.

To maintain small team sizes (max 6 per NEJTA team, 3 per ERT team), we require a commitment from players and parents. Parents must help with driving and the BBQ roster (a valid Working with Children Check is required).
